To complement a new range of polymer testing rheometers and accessories, Bohlin Instruments now offers a new software package, MWD Pro, which is interfaced with the standard Bohlin rheometer software modules.
The new software is primarily used for the simple determination of molecular weight distributions of a broad range of polymeric sample types, from conventional dynamic rheological data.
For a particular sample, MWD Pro, which is based on an "energy principle", claims the advantage of requiring just one oscillatory frequency sweep at a single temperature in order to generate the sample's molecular weight distribution function. Repeat measurements at different temperatures are, thus, said to be avoided. Other calculated quantities include the relaxation function and the relaxation spectrum.
