Head of aerospace coatings
Keyword: PPG Industries
Dennis Kovalsky, global director of pretreatment and specialty products, has been appointed general manager of the aerospace coatings and sealants business unit for PPG Industries.
He succeeds Theodore M. Clark, who has been named CEO of Burke Industries of Santa Fe Springs, California, a producer of specialty rubber products.
Dennis is a 1973 graduate of Washington & Jefferson College with a degree in biochemistry. He will be located in the Glendale, California, headquarters of the aerospace coatings and sealants unit, a global supplier of coatings and sealants for aircraft as well as sealants for architectural insulating glass units.
Another PPG appointment is that of Kathleen McGuire, corporate director of quality, who has been appointed general manager of fine chemicals for PPG Industries. She will be responsible for the manufacture and sales of PPG's traditional phosgene derivatives with the exception of pharmaceutical products.
Before becoming the first corporate head of PPG's quality process, McGuire had been director of architectural coatings technology and specialty businesses, where she was responsible for the global Pitt-Char fire-protective coatings business as well as product development and technical plant support.
As quality director, McGuire was responsible for increasing the company's focus on meeting customer requirements. As a result, she directed the launch of a statistical-based approach to reducing product and process variation. This initiative is designed to have a substantial effect on operating efficiency.
