For the 11th time the journal Farbe & Lack has awarded a prize for an outstanding and innovative project in the field of paint and coatings technology.
During the recent 65th Conference of the Coatings and Pigments Group (APi) of the GDCh, held at the Dorint Hotel in Dresden, Germany, this year's prize-winner received his award.
Dr Rene¨ Mattern received a certificate, DM5,000 prize money and a bronze sculpture from Prof. Dr Claus D. Eisenbach (Plate 12), head of the Research Institute for Pigments and Paints (FPL) and spokesman for the jury. He praised the winner and the original idea to improve the optical properties of powder coatings by chemistry and chemical engineering, presented in his paper "Powder coatings by ultrasound".
