Adhesives technology - free information at your fingertips

Keywords AEA Technology, National Physical Laboratory, Adhesives, CD-ROM

A CD-ROM has been produced to increase confidence in the use of adhesives, by providing the engineer with the tools to predict the performance of adhesively bonded joints.

The free two-disc CD package contains the following:

  • Best Practice Guides - Preparation and Testing of Bulk Adhesive Samples; Testing of Adhesive Joint Durability Surface Quality Characterisation of Adhesive Bonding.

  • Case Studies - Long-Term Performance Optimisation of Adhesives in Manufacturing Applications.

  • Technology Briefing - Assessment Methods and Failure Criteria for Adhesive Joints.

This information, developed by the National Physical Laboratory and AEA Technology, is now available through the Department of Trade and Industry's (DTI) Materials Metrology Programme. This programme enables UK industry to improve its competitiveness through product and process innovation.

The CD is only a small part of the overall programme. A number of workshops have been run on the use of adhesives in industry, particularly for the following sectors; marine, automotive, and transport.

A Help Desk has been established at TWI, which provides a focal point for answers to all adhesives-related questions. Practical advice to aid decision making, as well as Best Practice Guides, case studies, materials and equipment supplier information and advice, are on offer.

To obtain your free copy of the CD, or to gain information from the Help Desk, contact Clare Rushforth on +44 (0) 1223 894615 or e-mail cjrushforth@twi.co.uk
