Viscometer with 'plug and play' software
Keywords Viscosity, Software, Measurement
In the field of conventional viscometers, an interesting new instrument is the Haake VT550 Viscotester, supplied in the UK by Carl Stuart. It is an advanced Searle-type viscometer providing accurate and repeatable measurements for R&D evaluation and quality control testing. The new instrument is said to be simple to operate and displays results - viscosity, shear stress, shear rate and yield point - on a clear digital display. The VT550 is also suitable for automatic characterisation of non-Newtonian fluids.
Data from tests can be outputted directly to a printer or collected using Haake Windows-based software. The latter option enables the mathematical model fitting of complicated flow characteristics and rheological behaviour and also enables thixotropy and yield point calculations to be made. The viscometer can also be supplied as a "plug and play" application package for specific tasks.
