PPG Industries has introduced a transportation resource center as part of its newly redesigned home page on the Internet (http://www.ppg.com)
A fully-integrated, cross-businesses section focused on PPG products and services available to the automotive, truck, bus, aircraft, marine and railway industries, the 980-plus-page transportation unit is the first of four markets-focused centers to become part of PPG's Net site; construction, industrial and consumer resource centers will follow within several months.
The new design has more than 20 direct links from the home page to sections identified in research as key areas of visitor interest. These include links to news, financial information, employment prospects and strategic business unit pages as well as a detailed site map and search feature. PPG's home page also has a changing "Site of the Month" and a highlights section to call out new site features. According to Linda C. Murphy, director of corporate business communications and corporate Webmaster, nearly every "inside" page includes one of two-dozen rotating banner advertisements which link to other sections, providing continuing cross-selling opportunities.
