TufShield 2000 is reported to be a state-of-the-art, spray applied elastomeric coating which can be handled, or walked on, within 30 seconds. We are informed that it can be sprayed to any thickness in a single application, providing a flexible and extremely tough monolithic membrane with excellent water and chemical resistance.
TufShield 2000 is the latest resin chemistry to be sold by Resin Systems Limited, a company with a history of introducing innovative products to the marketplace. The company, which is privately owned, produced, for example, the first fire and smoke suppressed epoxy formulations for floorings for London Underground following the Kings Cross fire.
The product has undergone trials with various companies including AEA Technology. Roger Bond, operations manager at AEA, says it is a case of no contest compared with other products: "TufShield 2000 gets ten out of ten for durability". Further trials for the sealing of land and for tying down contamination with TufShield 2000 are "promising and encouraging", he adds. "Indeed, AEA and Resin Systems Limited now have a joint undertaking for nuclear applications."
Other companies, including those involved in bulk transport using rail wagons, have reported excellent results regarding hang-up and its associated problems of volume reduction and cross contamination.
TufShield 2000 can be sprayed at almost any ambient temperature it has been used at 40°C and has a working temperature up to 121°C (Plate 11). It is manufactured as a translucent material but with factory added tints, pigments and dyes can be produced in almost any colour.

The product can be used in diverse applications for coating, containment and encapsulation. The speed of application dramatically reduces costly downtime when coating valuable equipment on site. It can also be used by manufacturers during the production process providing added value for customers.
Resin Systems' research and development department provides a consultancy and advisory service to identify and advise on the best solution and methods of treatment. Professional contractors are available as well as a demonstration and contract support vehicle equipped with a self-contained spray plant, powered by its own generator.
