The 36 papers of this conference, all contributed from North American universities, cover a wide range of issues relating to university library services. Of particular interest might be those on distance learning, electronic reserves, virtual reference services, student self‐assessment issues, co‐operative environments, maintaining standards, information literacy, proxy servers, communications software and push technology, videoconferencing, the role of web sites, and electronic document delivery systems.
