is the recipient of the Journal's Outstanding Paper Award for Excellence for his paper

"An XML infrastructure for archives, libraries and museums: resource discovery in the COVAX project"

which appeared in Program: electronic library and information systems, Vol. 36 No. 2, 2002

Robin Yeates has spent most of his professional career researching and developing distributed resource-sharing systems for the public sector. Currently Research Fellow at City University, he helped lead research and development in an academic unit, LITC at South Bank University, and the former London and South Eastern Library Region, after a spell as a public library systems manager. His research has covered distributed metadata and collaborative information management, including filtered alerting, directory services, and the COVAX XML-based resource discovery system for cultural heritage. He has also assisted three nof-digitise consortia to procure content management solutions and to develop end-user-friendly Web services. He has spent any spare time exploring open-source Zope and Plone for low-cost Web site management. A great believer in people sharing their best and worst ideas, he is now seeking to improve dissemination management and promote a self-sustaining network of support services for the Information Society.
