Capital cost benchmarking
To deliver measurable improvement in the construction industry, a reliable source of comparative cost information is essential. To assist in the proccss. BCIS has made availablc details of the cost of approximately 500 building projects analysed by BCIS over the last two years.
The projects analysed range from a £39,000, 53m2 tennis club house in South Bedfordshire to a £25m, 17905m2 refrigerated distribution wardhouse in Birmingham, reflecting the huge scope of building schemes in which BCIS subscribers are involved.
The publication provides £/m2 data on recent projects grouped by type of building, thereby giving an indication of current costs. Furthermore, to facilitate easier comparison of project prices, the £/m2 rates are also given at 1995 constant prices.
