Article Type: Editorial From: Policing: An International Journal of Police Strategies & Management, Volume 35, Issue 4.

Welcome to Issue 4 of Volume 35! As always, we have a number of high quality, interesting papers to share with you. The submissions tend to cluster in two major themes: practice-based research and studies of personnel performance. In the area of practice-based studies, we present a manuscript that explores the issue of planning for traffic enforcement officers; two studies that discuss the abilities of officers to detect deception; an examination of intelligence-led policing and its impact in state law enforcement agencies; and a piece that predicts location choices for encounters and victim release among serial rapists. With respect to personnel performance, we present two manuscripts that focus on police/citizen interactions; a study that examines the impact of coaching on police driver training; and two manuscripts that explore more general performance and management issues.

In keeping with our international mission, contributors present data and analyses from Israel, Holland, Norway, the USA, the UK, China, Germany, and Canada. We sincerely hope that you enjoy this issue.

We would also like to take time to acknowledge all of our contributors and readers. As a result of the quality and relevance of the paper received, we are pleased to announce that according to the Thomson Reuters 2011 Journal Citation Reports our impact factor has increased. We thank you all for your continued support of the journal.
