Significance

The race to succeed Joe Biden pits Democratic Party nominee Kamala Harris, Biden’s vice president, against Republican Party nominee Donald Trump, president between 2017 and 2021. Washington’s approval ratings in the region rose after the transition from Trump to Biden.
