Healthier eating on the go just got easier
Article Type: Food facts From: Nutrition & Food Science, Volume 41, Issue 3
Tower Hamlets Healthy Borough programme has launched a new “Healthier Eating out Guide” – making it easier to get a nutritious bite to eat whilst on the go. The guide lists all local cafés, takeaways and restaurants that are part of the Healthy Borough’s Food for Health Awards. The awards acknowledge food businesses with a gold, silver or bronze for using healthier cooking methods and recipes with reduced sugar, fat and salt. Diners can easily identify Food for Health Award eateries by the yellow window sticker or a wall plate displayed at the premises.
Locals can pick up a handy guide at leisure centres, idea stores, health centres and eateries which are part of the Food for Health Awards or simply download a copy from the council (www.towerhamlets.gov.uk) or Tower Hamlets NHS (www.towerhamlets.nhs.uk) web sites.
