Salter launch new MiBody analyser scale

Article Type: Food facts From: Nutrition & Food Science, Volume 38, Issue 4.

Salter has launched the MiBody analyser scale, the most comprehensive body analyser scale available in the UK today. As well as determining your weight, body fat, body water, muscle mass, body mass index (BMI) and basal metabolic rate (BMR) readings, the MiBody analyser scale comes with USB PC data tracking that allows users to store their results and transfer them to their computer for analysis and future reference.

As the UK brand leader in kitchen and bathroom scales, Salter know that monitoring your health today is about more than just your weight. The MiBody has been designed with this in mind to help the user to understand the total health status of their body and keep track of changes over weeks and months, a feature that is especially important to those on a diet or training for a particular event like a marathon or triathlon.

The MiBody analyser scale comes with a 12-user memory and can store up to 30 results per user. Simply transfer your health data from the MiBody analyser scale to your PC using the USB stick (included) and view your stats and chart your progress using the easy-to-use MiBody software (also included), compatible with Windows 2000, XP and Vista.

The MiBody analyser scale features a large easy to read LCD display and with its toughened safety glass platform offers a maximum weight capacity of 31st 6 lb (equivalent to 200kg or 440 lb). The MiBody comes complete with three fitness levels so is ideal for anyone about to embark on a diet or exercise programme for the first time, right up to the serious fitness fanatic who wants to know their body's make up inside and out and compete on a serious level. The three user levels are:

  1. 1.

    Mode one – for people who exercise lightly or infrequently (e.g. less than 20min once or twice a week).

  2. 2.

    Mode two – for people who engage in moderate activity (30min, three-to-five times a week).

  3. 3.

    Mode three – for people who are highly active, engaging in moderate to vigorous exercise (60min, five times a week).

Colin Pickard, Product Manager for Salter Body analyser scales comments: "The MiBody analyser scale is Salter's most state of the art body analyser to date. It's simple to use, durable and measures all the key health indicators that both novice and professional athletes alike need to know to get the most from their diet and exercise programmes. Simply put the MiBody analyser scale is a piece of kit that helps you to achieve your weight, health and fitness goals".

As well as being clever, the MiBody analyser scale comes in a sleek black design and operates using 6AA batteries (included), making it both stylish and extremely portable. The MiBody analyser scale comes as standard with a 15-year guarantee and is available from Argos.

The MiBody analyser scale measures the following health indicators:

  •   Body fat (per cent) – proportion of your body that is fat;

  •   Body water (per cent) – basic measure of your body's hydration;

  •   Muscle mass (per cent) – percentage measurement of your body's muscle or lean tissue;

  •   Visceral fat – amount of fat surrounding your vital organs;

  •   BMI – medically accepted measurement to indicate healthy weight for your height; and

  •   BMR – how many calories your body burns at rest.
