British Coffee Association Announcement

Article Type: Food Facts From: Nutrition & Food Science, Volume 38, Issue 3.

After lengthy discussions the existing British Coffee Association (BCA) and The Coffee Trade Federation of the UK have agreed to join forces. As from January 1, 2008 they will operate under the title of the BCA acting as a single entity and being the authority on the coffee trade and industry of the UK. The BCA will provide the representative voice for all the UK coffee trade and industry and will promote and safeguard members' interests in all matters relating to the growth, preparation, shipment, warehousing, transport, insurance, manufacturing, distribution and consumption of coffee.

The BCA will continue to service all aspects of the existing members and will build strength from the opportunities created from the merged expertise and combined actions in all areas of activity. It is the intention to increase and broaden membership so that it truly represents the total UK coffee trade and industry. Representation at the European Coffee Federation, and with other official and governmental bodies will continue as priorities, but with more strength and authority as the single voice of the UK trade and industry.
