If there is one book that is essential for the dietitian's or nutritionist's book case this is it.

The Manual of Dietetic Practice provides an invaluable up‐to‐date reference work for all those involved in any aspect of nutrition and dietetics or who are studying the subject. It is especially useful for all those who are involved in the clinical aspects of dietetic practice.

It has been considerably updated since the previous edition and contains several additional chapters. Experts in the subject have written these chapters. Each chapter has an initial highlighted section on key points, which is very useful. The chapters also conclude with suggestions for further reading plus a comprehensive list of references.

The book is divided into six sections, which are:

  1. (1)

    General dietetic principles and practice

  2. (2)

    Foods and nutrients

  3. (3)

    Nutritional needs of population subgroups

  4. (4)

    Dietetic management of disease

  5. (5)

    Dietetic management of acute trauma

  6. (6)

    Appendices.

This is certainly a book for the bookshelf of any dietitian or nutritionist and essential in the library of colleges where food, catering, sport or health studies are taught.
