Creative learning media wins e-learning age award

Creative Learning Media, the UK market leader in providing e-learning programmes to the hospitality, food, retail and care sectors, was presented with the ‘outstanding achievement award’ at the inaugural “e-learning industry awards”. The event was organised by e-learning age magazine and the e-learning network and sponsored by City & Guilds.

Clive Snell, MD of Bizmedia, the publishers of e-learning age said, “With this e-learning age special industry award for outstanding achievement we are keen to highlight companies whose development is making waves throughout the industry. We are looking for exceptional revenue growth, product innovation and success in bringing intellectual content into the business mainstream. The criteria were tough and all of the short listed companies were worthy contenders in helping the e-learning industry come of age.”

CLM scooped the biggest prize of the evening ahead of a very strong shortlist that included Epic, The Training Foundation, Red Tray and EBC. Commenting on the evening, MD Richard Taylor said, “The judges recognised Creative Learning Media for our focus on delivering a genuine and clearly measurable ROI to our clients and for the high quality of our products and support services.”

CLM has seen a rise of 800 per cent in sales since 2002. With a fifty strong staff, it currently provides employment related training and education programmes in customer service skills, team leading, health and safety requirements and legal compliance procedures to over 300,000 people throughout the UK. Client organisations include licensed premises chains, foodservice companies, hotels, hospitals, nursing homes, prisons, supermarkets and shops.

The CLM learning management system delivers the educational content specific to a client’s organisational needs. It provides them with valuable tracking information including learner progress, course completions and certification levels.

The company also provides online tutoring facilities. Customer service skills, team leading, health and safety requirements and legal compliance procedures are among the subject areas covered in the educational courseware, which CLM has developed. It also provides clients with content delivery facilities, including the innovative application of tablet PCs, for use by clients in circumstances where technology is not readily available for training purposes.

In September 2005, CLM was acquired by Dublin based e-learning specialist ThirdForce, enabling the company to prosper quickly at home and abroad with new development, marketing and growth opportunities. It now forms a fourth division of the ThirdForce group alongside the ICT Skills, Skills for Life (literacy and numeracy) and e-assessment divisions.

Other awards won by CLM this year include “e-learning project of the year” from IITT, “training company of the year” from NITA and a “national training award” from UK skills/DfES.
