Food microbiology on CD-ROM – safefood library

A CD-ROM from CCFRA that contains over 1,000 hyper-linked articles and summarises on various aspects of food safety, with the emphasis on food microbiology. The safefood library will be of value to food industry managers as a reference tool and training aid on aspects of microbiological safety of foods, and so will help contribute to food safety assurance.

It works like a Web site with a front screen that provides access to articles by themes such as microbiological food poisoning and food preservation. Alternatively, the detailed information can be accessed by an extensive index of key words – with the full article just a single click away from the index. Apart from in-depth coverage of the major pathogens and microbial toxins, the articles also highlight which aspects of different preservation systems are critical in assuring food safety.

Further information can be obtained from Mrs Sue Hocking at CCFRA. Tel: 01386 842225; E-mail: pubs@campden.co.uk, and a demonstration version, showing the themes and containing the full list of indexed terms can be found at Web site: www.campden.co.uk/publ/pubfiles/safefood/topics.htm
