Around 25 per cent of primary schools offer subsidised playtime milk for children aged 4-11 years

Hundreds of schools across England and Wales received free milk samples from local dairies during School Milk Week, 29 September-3 October and this project gave primary schools the chance to receive free milk for their school for the days.

School Milk Week is all about highlighting the availability of milk in schools and the fact that it is subsidised by the EU.

Every primary school child, aged from 5 to 11 years, is eligible for up to 250 ml of EU subsidised milk at school each day. Parents make a contribution towards the cost which varies from area to area but on an average is approximately 14 p per day.
