Scotland has a poor health record owing to numerous factors including a poor diet which includes too much saturated fat and too few fruits and vegetables.
The day attracted numerous delegates from primarily the health and social sector in Scotland.
Various presentations were given on aspects of nutrition and health as well as one on under-nutrition in the elderly.
Workshops were held on a number of topics including:

breast-feeding and nutrition;

CHD and strokes;

managing obesity;
- •
water projects;
- •
food in schools;
- •
oral health and nutrition;
- •
ethnic minority groups;
- •
nutrition in catering;
- •
working with young people;
- •
community food initiatives;
- •
homelessness;
- •
food fluids and nutritional care; and
- •
child and family poverty.
