Dehydrated children
Dehydrated children
Only one-quarter of school-aged children drink the amount of water recommended by experts with one-fifth saying they never drink water. Nutrition experts are concerned about dehydration in children, as they may risk symptoms such as headaches, lethargy and an inability to concentrate at school and at home. Instead of water nearly three-quarters of the children surveyed had at least one fizzy drink daily. How much fluid a child needs depends on age and weight but as a rough guide the average four to six-year old should be consuming five glasses of plain water a day and seven to ten-year olds about six.
