Databank. Frozen vegetables
Of UK households, 95 per cent, buy frozen vegetables according to a Fisher Foods survey. The survey was carried out by TNS on a sample of 15,000 households during the 52 weeks ending 30 April 2000. The amount of frozen vegetables consumed by nearly every household in the UK is 30 kilograms. Of this total almost half (45 per cent) is frozen chips. Green vegetables make up for 41 per cent of the total. The demographic breakdown of consumption patterns shows that three households in the socio-economic group C2DE eat frozen green vegetables for every two in groups ABC1. Also almost twice as many families with children eat frozen greens compared with those with no children. This shows the importance of frozen vegetables for less well off families with children.
