Calcium enriched foods for people with coeliac disease

Calcium enriched foods for people with coeliac disease

Coeliac disease is a chronic condition which is significantly under-diagnosed and may affect one in 300 people. Despite a gluten-free diet many people with coeliac disease may suffer from osteoporosis. To combat this Nutricia Dietary Care has fortified its Glutafin gluten-free mixes with calcium to help people with coeliac disease to increase their daily calcium intake. The Glutafin gluten-free flour mix contains at least four times more calcium per 100g than a comparable white or fibre flour. For further information on any of the calcium enriched Glutafin flour mixes or breads, or for more information about coeliac disease, contact the Coeliac Disease Resource Centre, Newmarket Ave, White Horse Business Park, Trowbridge, Wiltshire BA14 0XQ. Tel: 01225 711566; e-mail CDRC@nutricia.co.uk The National Osteoporosis Society has also launched an information sheet on coeliac disease and osteoporosis. It is available, free of charge, from the Society, PO Box 10, Radstock, Bath BA3 3YB. Tel: 01761 471771.
