Wireless industry veterans lend IP and patent licensing expertise, growth-company experience.

Peregrine Semiconductor Corporation, a leading provider of high-performance radio frequency (RF) integrated circuits (ICs), have announced the appointment of two new members to its Board of Directors. Intellectual property (IP) expert Carl Schlachte and former Qualcomm President and Chief Operating Officer Anthony (Tony) Thornley bring broad experience and expertise in the areas of global IP/patent licensing and growth-company executive leadership to Peregrine’s nine-member board.

Mr Schlachte serves as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of privately held Ventiva Corporation, a thermal management company, and is also Chairman of MOSAID (TSX:MSD) one of the world’s leading IP companies. Mr Thornley joined Qualcomm (NASDAQ:QCOM) in 1994 as Chief Financial Officer, and throughout his 11-year career with the company served as Chief Financial and Operating Officer and eventually as President and Chief Operating Officer.

From 2004 to 2009, Mr Schlachte was President and Chief Executive Officer of ARC International (LSE:ARK), a provider of configurable processor technology to semiconductor companies worldwide. He has more than 25 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, including CEO roles at global fabless semiconductor and IP companies and executive positions at Motorola and ARM Holdings plc. At ARM, he established its North American operations and secured strategic relationships with semiconductor and system companies in the USA. Mr Schlachte received a BS from Clemson University.

Prior to joining Qualcomm, Mr Thornley spent 16 years with Nortel Networks, a telecommunications equipment manufacturer, in various financial and information systems management positions including Vice President Finance and IS, Public Networks; and Vice President, Finance NT World Trade and Corporate Controller of Nortel Ltd Mr Thornley serves as a Director of several technology and software companies, including Cavium Networks, Inc. a semiconductor company enabling intelligent network applications; Proximetry, Inc. a network software company; Public Wireless, Inc. a wireless infrastructure company; and Basho Technologies, Inc. a database software company. He is also a Director of Callaway Golf, Inc. and Transdel Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Mr Thornley received his BSc degree in Chemistry from the University of Manchester, England and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in England and Wales.
