The IEEE ESTC Electronics Systems-Integration Technology Conference (ESTC)
Article Type: Exhibitions and conferences From: Microelectronics International, Volume 25, Issue 2.
This is the major electronics packaging, interconnection and integration conference of Europe held biennially. Electronics Systems-Integration Technology Conference (ESTC) alternates with the IMAPS European Microelectronics Packaging Conference and is co-sponsored by both IEEE-CPMT and IMAPS-Europe.
This second ESTC to be held during 1-4 September 2008 follows the very successful first ESTC held in Dresden in 2006.
ESTC-2008 will be held at Greenwich, the magnificent world heritage site and major maritime site on the banks of the River Thames in the great city that is London. The conference and exhibition will be hosted at the University of Greenwich in the buildings of the former Royal Naval College which has a tremendous heritage: plenary sessions will be in the Great Painted Hall providing a wonderful ambience for the technical presentations; and when you visit the exhibition you will be standing directly over the former palace of King Henry the Eighth, and the Queens House is where Sir Walter Raleigh placed his cloak over a puddle for Queen Elizabeth the First to step onto.
Technical themes of ESTC-2008 are:
- •
Advanced Packaging.
- •
Emerging Technologies.
- •
Manufacturing and Test Technology.
- •
Modelling, Simulation and Design.
- •
New Materials and Processes.
- •
Power Electronics.
- •
Technology & Reliability for Micro and Nano Systems.
- •
Assembly of Alternative Energy Sources.
- •
Optoelectronics.
- •
Electronics system-integration for healthcare.
Poster papers will be on display throughout the day of the specific session and each poster will have a scheduled slot for presentation by the author.
There will also be special sessions on:
- •
Greening the Blue Planet.
- •
Standards.
- •

Call for exhibitors
The ESTC 2008 exhibition will be based on a shell scheme within the exhibition hall in Queen Anne Court at the University of Greenwich. Early bookings are strongly advised. Early bookers will receive a significant discount on the normal stand price.
The full stand price is based on a 1m grid at the rate of £200 per m2. A 20 per cent early bird discount is available for bookings contracted before 29 February 2008. Details of bookings and exhibition hall layout are provided in the Exhibitor Registration Pack.
The exhibition hall is positioned exactly between the two groups of technical session rooms deliberately to encourage flow into the exhibition. Coffee and meeting tables are also located in the exhibition hall.

Accommodation
We have secured very good quality and very good value accommodation in the heart of London. Hotel rooms range from £60-110 (3 and 4 star) and newly refurbished en suite single rooms are available at £40 in the student halls of residence. These are within 10min walk of the conference. Since the demand for these rooms will be intense, they will be released on a first-come first-served basis.
