Fujitsu Siemens computers selects LSI SAS/SATA RAID for new generation of PRIMERGY servers

Article Type: Industry news From: Microelectronics International, Volume 25, Issue 2.

LSI Corporation have announced that Fujitsu Siemens Computers, a leading European IT infrastructure provider, has selected LSI MegaRAIDw and Integrated RAID (IR) Serial Attached SCSI (SAS)/Serial ATA (SATA) data protection technology across its next-generation mono and dual socket Modular RAID PRIMERGY family of servers.

Fujitsu Siemens Computers PRIMERGY servers will incorporate a range of hardware- and software-based SAS/SATA products from LSI, including an eight-port modular RAID-on-chip to provide customers with high-performing server and storage subsystem solutions that meet critical performance and data redundancy requirements. Other market-leading LSI storage solutions selected by Fujitsu Siemens Computers include a cost-effective chipset-based SATA device and an LSISAS1068E controller with integrated RAID 0, 1 and 1E capabilities.

“By continuing our relationship with LSI, we introduced the most competitive and advanced RAID technology in PRIMERGY systems,” said Klaus Kratzer, Vice President PRIMERGY servers at Fujitsu Siemens Computers. “With multiple levels of RAID support, customers have the flexibility of selecting the level of performance and data protection best suited to their storage environments.”

Fujitsu Siemens Computers' new line of modular RAID PRIMERGY rack and tower servers provide customers the flexibility of selecting host CPU-based RAID 0, 1, 10 and 5 for SATA hard disk drives (HDDs); LSISAS1068E- based integrated RAID 0, 1 and 1E for SAS and SATA HDDs; or LSI SAS1078 ROC-based RAID 0, 1, 10, 5 and 6 for SAS and SATA HDDs.

“As the industry leader in SAS products, LSI is in a unique position to support the next-generation Fujitsu Siemens Computers modular RAID server designs,” said Kelly Bryant, DAS RAID Business Line Director, Engenio Storage Group, LSI. “With our ability to offer SAS products ranging from MegaRAID adapters, ROMB solutions and Software RAID, our customers can deliver the benefits of data consolidation, increased functionality, availability, performance and scalability across a common platform.”

With the same proven data centre technology used across the entire PRIMERGY range of rack and tower servers, Fujitsu Siemens Computers modular RAID series is designed for ease of use, manageability, and reliability.
