iSYSTEM, and single board computer company, PHYTEC, have announced a combination development kit to save embedded engineers the time and cost involved in sourcing and configuring separate software development tools. Comprising the PHYTEC Rapid Development Kit and iSYSTEM iPDP Starter Kit, it includes everything that an embedded systems engineer needs to immediately start developing software and reference designs. The kits are available for the Motorola Power PC MPC565 and Atmel AT91M55800A (ARM7TDMI) with the Intel XScale PXA255 kit coming soon.
Each kit contains a Single Board Computer module mounted on a development board that features all the hardware needed for immediate power-up of the module, including DB-9 nodes (configurable as RS-232 and/or RS-485/CAN interfaces), power connectors and a wire wrap area for easy integration of user-designed peripheral hardware and circuitry. It also includes the winlDEA complete Windows based development and debug environment, a full GNU C/C++ compiler and a JTAG-LPT interface module. A quick-start manual and complete working sample project ensure a fast debug start. The JTAG-LPT interface is directly connected to the JTAG connector of the microcontroller module to ensure compatibility with production hardware at a later stage.
