The response to the international conference and exhibition of Micro System Technologies from 27-29 March 2001 in Düsseldorf was very positive with three days of intensive discussion between MST experts from all over the world, research and industry, suppliers and users on all issues concerning microsystem technologies.

Fifty-six companies presented their products and solutions at the accompanying exhibition (covering 1,000sq.m.) to visitors and conference attendees from 19 countries. About one third of the conference attendees travelled to Düsseldorf from abroad. Most of the experts came from Japan, USA and France. Around 600 microsystem technology professionals attended the conference or visited the accompanying exhibition.

Of the more than 80 presentations, the conference's plenary sessions were the most popular with all specialist areas covered by the world's leading experts from Germany, Japan, Belgium, The Netherlands, Switzerland and the USA.

The special session on "Financing MST", organised by the VDINDE-Technologiezentrum Informationstechnik in Teltow attracted particular interest. The event offered representatives from the various interest groups the opportunity to present real-life practical problems. The typical demands of venture capital companies, banks and MST companies were presented and discussed in detail with the focus on the possibilities and limitations of venture capital financing, alternative options for sourcing capital and specific financial queries from MST companies.

Further information about the event, an exhibitor list and the full conference programme are available on the Internet at: www.mesago.de/mst or directly by telephone from the organiser: 0711 61946 72.
