In a move to significantly expand and enhance its test development capabilities to include the latest generation of integrated circuit packages, including RF and wireless communication devices, Amkor Technology, Inc. is acquiring privately-held Integra Technologies, LLC.

Integra is one of the largest independent production and test development companies in the USA, specializing in the development and conversion of IC test software for most major automated test platforms. Integra has aggressively expanded into test programs for mixed-signal and wireless communications devices to meet a rapidly growing industry demand. Integra's operation includes a 23,000 sq.ft facility in San Jose, California, and a 20,000 sq.ft facility in Wichita, Kansas. Integra, which employs 150 at the two locations, will become a subsidiary of Amkor.

Integra recently acquired a small Silicon Valley specialty test company known as Test Heads. That firm's senior test engineers and wireless/mixed-signal test equipment will be incorporated into the Integra facility in San Jose, ultimately becoming part of Amkor.

Integra was formed two years ago through an internal management buyout of what had been Lucent Technologies Component Evaluation Technology Center. The center has had an excellent reputation for test service and test software development for more than 15 years. The existing Integra management team is expected to remain in place under Amkor.
