International Microelectronics Packaging Symposium to be held in Tokyo

The IEMT/IMC 2000 Symposium is the largest annual microelectronics packaging technology symposium in Japan. This year it will be held in Sonic City, in Omiya, Saitama Prefecture next to Tokyo, on 19-21 April 2000. Omiya can be easily reached by train from the Tokyo area. The journey takes around 20-30 minutes.

The Symposium is now in its 13th year. It is jointly sponsored by IMAPS Japan and IEEE CPMT and attracts around 500 attendees, including nearly 100 overseas engineers. Proceedings are published and are available from IMAPS Japan office.

The official conference language is English. Generally 70 technical papers are presented in three daily sessions, which include invited speakers. Social events such as party evenings and international receptions are enjoyable occasions.

An exhibition called the Microelectronics Show will run concurrently with the conference in the same building. Nearly 70 exhibitors will display new technologies, materials, equipment and products. They will have free presentation time and more than 12,000 top Japanese engineers are expected to visit the show.
