Poland and Norway collaborate on better control of Polish industry
Article Type: News From: Management of Environmental Quality: An International Journal, Volume 22, Issue 3
Since 2004, Norway and Poland have been collaborating to enhance the effectiveness of the Polish Chief Inspectorate for Environmental Protection. Reducing emissions in Poland also helps to reduce pollution in Norway. The Climate and Pollution Agency in Norway and its partner in Poland are looking at opportunities for further collaboration. For several decades, Poland has been covering its energy needs with the aid of polluting coal fired power stations. Collaboration with Norway has helped to strengthen Poland’s compliance monitoring functions and to give the general public more and better information about control results and environmental conditions. For both Poland’s neighbours and Norway, there is less acid rain when sulphur emissions are reduced.
