LISTEN
LISTEN
In September I received notification of a new e-mail discussion list running on Mailbase, which aims to provide communication between educators, employers and recent graduates about continuing professional development in the library and information field. The list is called lis-listen, and it is tied in with LISTEN, a Discipline Network being run by the Department for Education and Employment.
For those with access to an e-mail account, discussion lists can be a rich source of up-to-date factual information and opinion, if you can handle the potential information overload that comes with a busy list. "Netiquette" for joining and leaving such lists is important, as these messages should always be sent to the host (Mailbase in this case), not the list itself.
To join lis-listen, send a message to: mailbase@mailbase.ac.uk
The message should read only: join lis-listen [firstname(s) lastname]
For further information, Mailbase have a World Wide Web site at http://www.mailbase.ac.uk/
