The 15th WOSC triennial congress, held jointly with the 2011 IEEE International Conference on Grey Systems and Intelligent Services, was held at Nanjing, China (15-18 September 2011).

Kybernetes, which has been selected by WOSC as its official journal will be publishing a special double issue devoted to the event in this Vol. 41, 2012. It will contain papers which have been selected from the conference presentations and which have been subsequently updated and refereed, together with reports from the congress. A list of the winners of the Kybernetes Awards for “Outstanding Papers” presented at the conference will also be included.

This journal was represented by members of its Editorial Advisory Board, its editorial team and representatives of its publishers.

Dr Alex Andrew stands down as Director-General

At the Nanjing Congress Dr Andrew announced his intention to stand down as the organisation’s Director-General, and welcomed Professor Raul Espejo as his successor. An appreciation of Dr Andrew’s valued contribution to WOSC over many years will appear in later issues of this volume. He has, however, indicated that he will continue as a Director of the organisation and his continued support will be welcomed by all who have recognised his dedicated service.

Preparations for the 16th Congress in 2014

During the Nanjing Congress the newly appointed Director General, Professor Raul Espejo announced the venue of the next Congress. Arrangements are now in progress to hold the 16 congress at Santiago, Chile in 2014.
