Article Type: Dedication From: Kybernetes, Volume 41, Issue 1/2

Always looking for new methods in the Digital Methods and their practical applications in industrial fields, in transport and trade, I bought the book Optimization – Local and Global Methods from Presses Universitaires de France. This book was so interesting that I wanted to meet its author. It was during the year 2004. So I made an appointment with Professor Yves Cherruault in Medimat, his laboratory. I have seen, with the number of dissertations defended by his students, the enormous work done by Yves throughout his career. Subsequently, we worked together and were able to solve without any difficulties many problems of mixed variables by the modified ALIENOR method. This method enables us to solve from a single theory many kinds of problems like Arithmetic, Analysis, Operations Research, etc.

Yves has always been an honest man concerned about the future of his students. We had very similar ideas in many areas. Over the years, we have come to collaborate, trust each other and established friendly relationships. Yves wanted to build a multidisciplinary team around him to help industrials, farmers, and carriers solve their problems of procedures optimization.

Yves had dug a furrow; it would help to carry on his work.

We lost a friend.
