This is a book that is published to show how to build a career as a software developer. With such an aim, it will be of much interest to IT managers and of course, to aspiring programmers. Information accompanying the book tells us that the author is well-experienced and qualified to advise all who are involved in this field of endeavour.

It has five sections, the first describes how to choose a technological area; the second how to increase your knowledge which includes a business sense; the third personal productivity and development; the fourth is about marketing: and finally, the fifth discusses how to “maintain your edge” and how to make sure your career is sustainable.

The book is made up of 53 essays written, the publishers say, in an easy-to-read format. The book has been chosen as “the book of the month” by the British Computer Society’s publication ITNOW, January 2010.
