Preface

Article Type: Preface From: Kybernetes, Volume 39, Issue 2

This journal is again focussing its attention on research and development studies which apart from obvious theoretical importance also provide implications and applications for the global community.

Dr Yi Lin (USA) has again accepted our invitation to contribute a special issue in this series. It will be one of many that, we are sure, will be regarded as offering a major contribution to our endeavours in cybernetics, systems, and management science, particularly in areas that are not well covered in the literature of our fields.

In his introduction, Dr Yi Lin clearly explains the effect of modern-day science on contemporary thinking and, especially considers the applications that ensue. Part 1 of this issue sets out the background to the study whilst Part 2 provides applications of this general yoyo model which he has described.

We are indebted to him and to his fellow contributors for their painstaking researches and for providing us with such a comprehensive study which undoubtedly will bridge the gap between the initial theory and the consequent practical applications.

As is our usual practice some of the journal’s regular features are also included in this, the first of a series of special issues for Vol. 39.

Readers are reminded that the section ‘Communications and Forum’ gives them the opportunity to publish their own views on journal content and in particular, about the research and developments featured in our special issues.
