New roles for systems science

The International Federation for Systems Research (IFSR) has organised its first international congress. It is to be held at Kobe, Japan in November 2005[1]. It lists as its convening body:

  • Japan Advance Institute of Science and Technology (Japan)

  • J. Kepler University, Linz (Austria)

  • Tokyo Institute of Technology (Japan)

  • Konan University (Japan)

  • Chinese Academy of Sciences (China)

The Congress theme is: “The new roles of Systems Sciences”. Six symposia are organised and a seventh symposium analyses and provides the necessary foundations for Systems Science to support the demands of the new role of Systems Sciences as the integrating force between the various methodological, sociological and technology trends of the future. A Workshop and a Panel Discussion have also been organised.

This is particularly timely event that may help all who work in the fields of cybernetics and systems to understand what Systems Sciences stands for and what its future role is to be.
