Volume 33, 2004 of this journal, which is to be published in ten issues, will also include specially selected compilations by guest editors and will feature a wide range of current topics that demand the attention of systemists and cyberneticians. Two of these double issues are of particular importance since they have been prepared to pay tribute and honour the lives of two of the most distinguished cyberneticians and systemists of our time. They have been compiled by leading figures in our scientific community who were both colleagues and friends of Stafford Beer and Heinz von Foerster.

The other special issues include: Grey Systems Theory and Applications; Reconstructability Analysis; Second-order Cybernetics; Advances in Cybernetics;

This volume of Kybernetes will also include our usual regular features that deal with contemporary systems and cybernetics; internet commentaries; news, conferences and technical reports; book reviews and reports; software reports; as well as the carefully selected and reviewed papers and communications. The ten issues will have over 1,500 pages and will be available, of course, online as part of a comprehensive multiple access information systems.

We believe, once again, that this volume will present contributions that will not only introduce new concepts and systems, but will prove inspirational to those who are involved with interdisciplinary endeavours that characterised systems and cybernetics.
