Condolences

Condolences

Both the Director-General of the World Organisation of Systems and Cybernetics and the Editor-in-Chief of the official journal of the organisation, together with colleagues wish to express their condolences to Professor Rose on the death of his wife, Fay. Dr Rose is the Founder of WOSC and the Founding Editor of Kybernetes. Throughout these and many other inspired initiatives he has been strongly supported by Mrs Rose.

Participants at the many WOSC World Congresses and prestigious gatherings will recall her involvement and contributions often made behind the scenes, but always enthusiastically supportive to both her husband and the organisation. In particular, at many of the memorable meetings held worldwide, she received the delegates with cheerful efficiency, and hosted the official functions with Professor Rose. This was in evidence when one of the countries that had invited WOSC for its Seventh International Congress withdrew its support at the last minute and the event had to be hurriedly organised at a new location in London (1987). The meeting was successfully held at the Imperial College by Professor Rose who was so ably assisted by Mrs Rose who also took charge of the Congress Desk throughout the event.

We are all very conscious of his great loss and would wish to pay tribute to her contribution to our activities and endeavours over so many eventful decades.
