System Development: A Strategic Framework

Michael BronziteSpringer-Verlag2001ISBN 0–85233–176–3£19.95

Any book that can help those involved with systems development and with projects will be welcome. The media is forever telling us about the disasterous IT projects that have cost the world's taxpayers an enormous amount of money. In the UK alone millions of pounds sterling have been lost on systems that did not achieve their goals.

The book deals with some well-known projects and draws its information from them. It gives us the benefit, with hindsight, of the "pros and cons" of the delivered systems. Useful information is provided about the delivery of such IT systems. The analysis is well presented and structured. Some reviewers would suggest that the text does not live up to its title and that a greater emphasis should have been placed on the development strategy that should be employed in such developments. Even so, it contains much valuable material that will assist system designers and managers in their attempts to deliver viable systems.
