Fifth European Systems Science Congress

CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

Fifth European Systems Science Congress

The fifth European Systems Science Congress will be held in Crete, Greece from 16th to 19th October 2002. The title of the Congress is "The System in its Context".

An island of diverse and outstanding beauty, Crete has everything to inspire the Systems scientists in the framework of the birth-place of European civilization – with both Athena, the goddess of wisdom, and Europe, the wife of Zeus. The beautiful environment combining wonderful sea-side and sacred mountains is an excellent recipe for inspiration.

The aim of the congress is to bring together Systems scientists from every discipline to exchange their experience, to present their approaches, and to discuss them in a very outstanding environment.

President of the Congress: Nicholas Paritsis.

Both hard and human sciences are dealing with complex systems, and are therefore involved in Systems Science. It is namely the case for:

  • social systems design

  • socio-cybernetics,

  • systems evolution

  • economy

  • environment,

  • systems management,

  • family and systems therapy,

  • cognitive science,

  • artificial intelligence

  • artificial life

  • biology and medicine,

  • mathematical models and theoretical approaches

The central theme of the conference is "The System in its Context" and the aim is to bring together the general system theorists (generalists) and those who are concerned with the main systems applications such as family therapy, systems management, social systems design and development, social-cybernetics, and cognitive science.
