This book presents techniques for integrating virtual humans into networked virtual environments (NVEs). It introduces what in effect is a tool that enables the user of the system to observe virtual human reactions in different environments. The authors give examples that range from pilot training to war games and they introduce the concepts of NVEs together with their design and development. Problems involving the manipulation of the graphics and the handling of the virtual-human data across the network are considered (see http//www.wiley.com).
