Department of Department of Dept of Comp. and Electrical
Artificial Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering
University of Edinburgh University of Edinburgh Heriot-Watt University

Aim and scopeThe aim of the event is to cover all modern approaches to robotics problems. The symposium will provide invited lectures by established personalities, original presentations by junior scientists about research in progress, and discussions on (but not limited to) the following topics: Mobile Robotics; Active Perception; 3D Reconstruction; Learning and Control; Co-operation; Control Architectures; Robotic Applications; Planning and Plan Execution; Fuzzy and Neural Networks; Techniques for Control; Miniature Robotics.

The event is organised in co-operation with the International Society for Intelligent Autonomous Systems, and sponsored by the Department of Artificial Intelligence and the EC TMR Networks SMART2 and CAMERA.

LocationThe event will take place at the campus of the University of Edinburgh. Edinburgh is often called "the Athens of the North" because of its many attractive buildings. Easily accessed by rail from all over the UK, the town has good flight connections to all countries in Europe and to all major cities in America and Asia.

7-8 July 1998, Galway, Ireland

Organised by: Wessex Institute of Technology, UK; University College, Galway, Ireland

IntroductionThe thirteenth International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Engineering will be held during 7-9 July 1998 in Galway, Ireland. The previous twelve international conferences stimulated significant presentations on the application of AI in Engineering as well as the tools and techniques required for the successful use of AI in Engineering. The organising committee members anticipate that 1998 will be yet another successful conference and encourage papers that are based upon these objectives.

ObjectivesThe purpose of this conference is to provide an international forum for the presentation of work on the State-of-the-Art in Applications in Artificial Intelligence to Engineering problems. It also aims to encourage and enhance the development of this most important area of research.
