About the Guest Editors

Elyas Elyasiani is a Professor of Finance and Economics at Temple University. His main areas of expertise include banking and financial institutions and quantitative finance. Dr Elyasiani has worked in bank and insurance company stock return modeling, international and inter-industry spillover of stocks, bank diversification, minority and foreign ownership effects, debt maturity, and cost of debt. He has published more than forty papers in refereed academic journals. His publications have appeared in the Journal of Money, Credit and Banking, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Risk and Insurance, Journal of Financial Research, Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance, and Journal of Financial Services Research, among others. Dr Elyasiani has taught more than 20 different courses at Michigan State University, Temple University, and Bar Ilan University in Israel at the PhD, MBA, and undergraduate levels. He was also a visiting scholar at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel. Dr Elyasiani served as the chair of the Finance Department at Temple (1994-1998) and as finance PhD advisor (1995-1997, 2001-2005). He also serves as an editor of the Journal of Economics and Business (1996-current).

A. Thavaneswaran

A. Thavaneswaran is a Professor of Statistics at the University of Manitoba, Canada. He also has an adjunct appointment with Fox School of Business at Temple University. His research interests include financial time series modelling with applications in option pricing, fuzzy forecasting and inference for stochastic processes. He has published more than 60 refereed research papers in leading international journals. His papers have more than 100 citations including the one by the Nobel prize winner Professor C.J. Granger.

Jagbir Singh

Jagbir Singh has over 40 years’ experience teaching of statistics across many disciplines: he has authored and co-authored over 35 research papers; co-authored the book Statistical Methods in Food and Consumer Research; and co-edited the book Recent Advances in Experimental Designs and Related Topics. His honours include: elected Fellow of the American Statistical Association; elected member of the International Statistical Institute; recipient of the Great Teacher Award of Temple University; The Frank/Andrisani Teaching Award of the Fox School of Business and Management; The Stauffer Award of the Temple University Alumni Association, and other honors.
