HRCA-network: The Human Resource Costing and Accounting Networks

is organizing the 5th International Conference Hilton Hotel, Stockholm, Sweden, 6-8 December 2006

We are pleased to announce the call for papers for our 5th international conference. This conference will be held at the Hilton Stockholm Slussen Hotel in Stockholm city. Stockholm is one of the most beautiful capitals in Europe and is sometimes named the Venice of Norden.

The aim of the conference is to bring together researchers and scholars from various countries interested in Human Resource Costing and Accounting. The conference will give delegates an opportunity to present their completed projects but also to present work in progress.

Suggested topics:

  • Accounting for intangibles and human resources.

  • Economic aspects of human resource management.

  • Economic control with focus on employee's motivation and health.

  • Intellectual capital with focus on measuring, managing and reporting.

  • Knowledge management.

  • Costing human resources including utility analysis.

  • Creation of the framework for career development and coaching.

  • Economic aspects in the firm or in the agency following from coaching, carreer development or employee mobility.

  • Stock market and information. Including code of conduct, valuation, disclosure of information.

  • Valuation procedures and models like Due Diligence processes.

Submission deadline December 15, 2005

The abstract should contain the title, author(s), affiliation(s), and the author(s) address, phone, fax and e-mail address. The abstract should also clearly indicate if co-authors, if any, will participate. Send Abstracts/pre-registration by e-mail. Abstracts should be limited to one page.

FormatTo encourage discussion and the presentation of very recent work, completed papers are not required for participation. A book of abstracts will be published. Delegates are invited however to submit their paper to The Journal of Human Resource Costing and Accounting, edited by Birgitta Olsson and published by Emerald Publ. Ltd. If a delegate's participation is conditional on paper acceptance, the same process can be followed. The JHRCA standard for acceptance is higher than the standard for the conference. Please e-mail a copy of the entire paper by March 15, 2006. Delegates will have approximately 25-30 minutes for presentation. The conference will start on December 6, late in the afternoon with registration. The conference will finish on Friday, December 8, around noon. Sessions start on December 7.

Special sessionsParticipants interested in organizing a special session are invited to send their proposal to the above address. Proposals should include: (a) a detailed description of the proposed session; (b) a list of the proposed speakers; (c) whether or not each speaker has agreed to serve if the proposal is accepted; and (d) the names and addresses of the chairperson and discussants, if any. Sessions are typically organised in blocks of 3-4 presentations. Depending on the quality of the papers, a special issue of JHRCA can be arranged.

NotificationWe plan to notify delegates by January 15, 2006 about the acceptance of their papers for presentation at the conference. Authors of accepted papers are expected to arrange their registration and conference fees before August 15, 2006 to guarantee accommodation and enjoy reduced room prices.

Conference package890 Euro before 1 September, 2006, 1,050 Euro after this date. This package includes participation, documents, two nights of accommodation at a special conference rate (arrival: December 6 - departure: December 8, 2006), including hotel breakfasts, all tea and coffee breaks, lunches (conference), conference dinner, all taxes and service charges, and free use of many hotel facilities.

Conference siteThe Hilton hotel is beautifully located in the city of Stockholm with a view over Stockholm city and Lake Malaren. It is within walking distance from the old town, the royal castle, museums and shopping district. There is a bus and railway service from the city terminal to International Airport Arlanda.

The HRCA-networkIn order to contribute to the scientific exchange between researchers in the field of Human Resource Costing and Accounting. The HRCA-network met in Stockholm first time in June 1995 and was invited by Personnel Economics Institute, Stockholm University. The second meeting of the HRCA-network was in Stirling in 1996. The third HRCA-network meeting took place in Stockholm in 1998 and the fourth in the year 2000. At present about 20 countries are represented in the HRCA-network.
