The Old Researcher

Song

Article Type: Song From: Journal of Humanitarian Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Volume 3, Issue 1.

And it is no nay never, no nay never know more

Will I be a researcher, no never no more

I’ve been a researcher for many a day

And spent all my grants going on trips far away

But now I’ve retired with no money in the bank

And for my presence at Humlog I’ve got Karen to thank.

Chorus

I came over to Finland for a holiday I thought

Suncream, sunglasses and swimmers I’ve brought

But then I met Gyöngyi and she made me feel weak.

Saying: if you want to stay here at the meeting you must speak

Chorus

So I looked on my laptop and found an old talk.

With bullet points and pictures and cartoons that walk

If I gave it some effort I could do so much more.

But then I thought why bother, you’ve heard it all before.

Chorus

We’ve talked of disasters, of relief and of aid

And hope that logistics a difference has made.

And maybe one day another book will appear

So we can all get together and drink some more beer

And it is no nay never, no nay never know more

Will I be a researcher, no never no more
