Special Anniversary Greetings from Editors

Article Type: Editorial From: Journal of Financial Management of Property and Construction, Volume 16, Issue 1

The Journal of Financial Management of Property and Construction has now completed its 15th year of publication. The Editors wish to thank all those who have supported the journal over those years, as subscribers, readers or authors of papers. We send you our greetings in this the first issue of 2011.

Since the launch of the journal, the subject area of the journal has diversified to an extent not imaginable 15 years ago. In publishing papers in such new areas, the journal plays its part in the overall academic development of property and construction financial management. However, continued development of research and good practice in core areas is also necessary and the journal also supports this. In 2011, it is hoped that the different issues of the journal will reflect both.

This issue deals with Lean Construction and we are pleased to have as Guest Editors of same C. Pasquire and G. Ballard. In the current world economic climate, the need for improved financial efficiency of the management of property and construction can only be beneficial, not just to clients but also to society in general. The possible benefits of cross fertilisation of academic knowledge from areas such as psychology, the social sciences and human resource management to property and construction as shown in papers in this issue are to be welcomed. The extent to which practice will adopt them only time will tell!

Akintola Akintoye, Jim Birnie
