Editorial

Welcome to the final edition of the Journal of Corporate Real Estate in 2007. As many of you will be aware I took over the editorship of the journal from Karen Gibler earlier in 2007 and would like to take this opportunity to thank Karen and all of the staff at Emerald who work with the Journal of Corporate Real Estate for their support throughout the year. I would also like to welcome those individuals who joined the JCRE editorial board during the year and express my gratitude to the long serving board members who continue to support the journal year after year.

It is my overall aim to work towards providing a source of corporate real estate knowledge which highlights and discusses current topics and issues facing the industry; a publication which provides the readership with a practical message while also maintaining the rigour we all expect to encounter in an academic journal. It is hoped that the content of the 2007 editions of JCRE have gone part of the way to achieving this aim. By following this path it is our objective that JCRE will act as a facilitator in continuing to build the linkages between the private sector and academia in relation to corporate real estate research.

Continuing on from the good work Karen started last year, the journal continued to expand its geographic boundaries throughout 2007. Published papers in JCRE during the year originated from countries across the globe including Malaysia, China, Estonia, Finland, The Netherlands, the UK and the USA. A third of the papers were brought to us in a co-authored format by persons from the academic world working alongside industry practitioners in the production of their research, this can only be a positive indicator of the lessons that can be learned regarding corporate real estate through successful collaboration of academic thought leadership and private sector experience.
