Roboethics info Database

AJung Moon, a PhD student of the Collaborative Advanced Robotics and Intelligent Systems Lab (CARIS) at the University of British Columbia, has created this comprehensive and resourceful web site dedicated to Roboethics.

The homepage features relevants news and announcements, Roboethics Twitter, and links to issues on the subtopics of human-robot interaction, healthcare robots, and military robots.

The site also highlights The Open Roboethics Initiative, a new wiki based on the “vision for the field of roboethics” presented by AJung Moon at the We Robot 2012, an inaugural conference on legal and policy issues relating to robotics that was held in Coral Gables, Florida, USA, on April 21 and 22, 2012.

The Roboethics Database also hosts some valuable links that include courses, institutions, journals, papers, and other blogs.

This is a blog by The Center for Internet and Society at Stanford Law School, a leader in the study of the law and policy around the internet and other emerging technologies, that chronicles programming and research at Stanford Law School related to robotics.

This interesting site displays posts in the following categories: “Robots Freedom Privacy”; events such as panel discussions on drones, robot privacy, and autonomous driving; videos of presentations; and pertinent links.

Rensselaer Artificial Intelligence and Reasoning Laboratory

The Rensselaer Artificial Intelligence and Reasoning Laboratory (RAIR) combines the Departments of Cognitive Science and Computer Science at Rensselaer Polytechnic University in research and development across a number of applied projects based on reasoning.

RAIR’s homepage provides the latest Lab News as well as an overview. Links from the homepage take the user on a Quicktime VR Tour of the Lab, and to the Projects Page which consists of 11 detailed projects, including Advanced Wargaming and Psychometric Artificial Intelligence (PAI) and Peri, a robot that demonstrates (PAI).

The Lectures tab lists videos of presentations and lectures, and PDFs of slides. Information on sponsors and people is also supplied.

The 3TU.Centre for Ethics and Technology

The 3TU.Ethics of Technology Centre, joins the expertise of the three Departments of Philosophy of the Dutch universities of technology, linking ethical theory to engineering practice.

The Centre’s comprehensive and easy-to-navigate web site contains detailed information on “Our Research”, which studies ethical issues in the development, use and regulation of technology, and delineates 28 projects covering the topics of moral issues in engineering design and R&D; moral issues in the use and regulation of technology; and values in engineering and society.

Other links include: the many fields of expertise; a publications database; programs; and news, events and media.

Ethics+Emerging Sciences Group

Based at California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly), the Ethics+Emerging Sciences Group is a non-partisan organization focused on the risk, ethical, and social impact of emerging sciences and technologies.

The homepage announces latest news and events. The rest of the Group’s clear and concise web site expounds on the homepage with the four areas of: about us, news, talks, and publications.
