GE fanuc automation announces proficy software for assembly applications

Complete hardware and software product portfolio can be applied to assembly systems.

GE Fanuc Automation, Inc., a unit of GE Industrial, has announced the availability of Applied Solutions aimed specifically at Assembly Applications.

“GE Fanuc boasts more than 20 years of proven solutions in Discrete manufacturing, more than 1,000 plant installations, more than ten million vehicles per year and more than one billion components per year including engines, cockpits and transmissions in automotive alone,” said Rich Breuning, Director of Discrete End User Solutions for GE Fanuc. “This makes us uniquely positioned to serve this market with a product set that addresses the specific needs of these customers.”

Proficy Assembly for Discrete Industries includes targeted solutions that address manufacturing intelligence, execution and awareness through a combination of GE Fanuc software with control solutions.

Baseline capabililities of the solution include in-line sequencing, BOM distribution, error proofing, quality assurance, production reporting, product birth certificates and Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE). Optionally, users can elect to use other features in GE Fanuc's Proficy Tracker product for material delivery, routing control and Order Execution Management tools.

The Assembly Application Suite is a complete hardware and software product portfolio that can reduce engineering costs, engineering time, and reduce maintenance costs. This applied solution provides an integrated hardware and software assembly solution that machine tool builders and end-users can use as a baseline in developing applications.

The Assembly Application Suite is a fully featured set of Proficy Machine Edition LD-PLC and View “building blocks” to be used in developing assembly system applications. The Proficy ME tool chest enables a common development environment for: Zone (master) Controllers, Automatic Stations, Manual Stations, Repair Staions and Test Stations, used in application development. The hardware architecture is based on, but not limited to, Panel C Industrial Computers, QuickPanel, PACSystems, I/O Digital Servo Motion, Profibus Fieldbus and RFID.

Templates of screens, logic and data are included for application building blocks: HMI, Fieldbus I/O, Axis Management, RFID and third party device support. In addition, the tool chest of devined variable objects includes those common to PLC and HMI and feature no memory mapping, common variable definitions and no fixed addressing.

“The Assembly Application Suite is a great solution to a faster, lower cost implementation,” said Jack Faett, Director of Discrete OEM Solutions for GE Fanuc. “The standard operation, reduced spare parts inventory, reduced training needs and reduced training costs afforded by this suite is unmatched in the industry.” on investments.
